Navigating a new city can be tricky, so here is our local insider guide on how to reach the meeting point smoothly and stress-free:

• By Metro: The closest Metro station is "Kongens Nytorv" (served by M1, M2, M3, and M4 lines). Once you exit the station, Mindeankeret at the head of Nyhavn is just a short 2-minute walk away. Please factor in an extra 5 minutes to navigate the escalators up to street level. Find a map of the metro and train network here

• By Train: If you are arriving by regional or S-train at København H (Central Station) or Nørreport, simply hop on the Metro to Kongens Nytorv—it’s only a few minutes away. Please note that trains can occasionally experience minor delays, so we highly recommend catching a connection that arrives a bit earlier than needed to secure your spot on the tour.

• From the Cruise Port (Orientkaj / Langelinie):
• From Orientkaj: Take the Metro (M4 line) directly to Kongens Nytorv. The Copenhagen Metro system is fully automated, world-class, and honestly a cool local experience on its own. It will bring you right to Nyhavn in less than 10 minutes, much faster than a taxi.
• From Langelinie: Take bus 27 to Østerport Station and switch to the Metro (M4), or take a pleasant 20–25 minute walk along the waterfront.

• By Uber / Taxi: Planning a 9:00 AM weekday tour? Keep in mind that you’ll be traveling right in the middle of local rush hour. Traffic around Kongens Nytorv and the inner city can bottleneck, and finding a ride-share or taxi drop-off spot can take longer than usual. Make sure to set off early to beat the morning traffic!

At Go Like a Local, we like to keep things authentic. True to our name, our guides do not carry bright umbrellas, neon flags, or giant tourist signs. We prefer to blend in naturally and treat you like a visiting friend rather than a tour group.

So, how do you find us? It’s incredibly simple:

Get to the spot: Just focus on reaching the exact meeting point at the big Memorial Anchor, just where the big square (Kongens Nytorv) ends and Nyhavns starts .

Be on time: Stand near the anchor at least 10 minutes before the tour starts.

Relax, we will find you! Our guides know exactly who is arriving on the tour. We will be right there under the clock checking the guest list, and we will spot you and come say hi!

We know that travel delays happen, but our tours must start on time. We have an exciting itinerary packed with unique stops, local stories, and so much of Copenhagen to show you! To stay on schedule and respect the time of all our guests, the group cannot wait for late arrivals.

Please note that this is an A-to-B tour. We start at the Memorial Anchor at Nyhavn and end the tour at The Opera Park. 

Because we will be walking approximately 5 to 7 km (3 to 4 miles), it is not possible to bring large luggage, travel backpacks, or big strollers on the tour.

If you are arriving straight from the airport, a cruise ship, or checking out of your hotel, you must store your luggage before meeting the guide.

Where to store your bags near Nyhavn:

The nearest metro station, Kongens Nytorv major train station, has no official luggage lockers on-site. However, you can easily store your bags nearby using service platforms like LuggageHero to find a convenient drop-off spot right around the corner. 

Timing tip: If you need to drop off luggage, please add an extra 10–15 minutes to your schedule before meeting us in front of the Memorial Anchor at Nyhavn, as it is a busy area, and there can sometimes be a short queue at the shops.

As a reminder, our tour starts promptly, and you must be at the meeting point in front of the Memorial Anchor at Nyhavn at least 10 minutes before departure.

However, if you want to be on the safe side, avoid rushing, and treat yourself like a true Dane, we highly recommend planning your journey to arrive 20–30 minutes early instead. This gives you plenty of time to visit Hart Bageri on Store Kongensgade, just a two-minute walk from our meeting point.

What to try: For an unforgettable local treat, grab their famous Cardamom Buns or a flaky Spandauer alongside a specialty coffee to enjoy by the water while you wait.

Time it right: Grab your treats to-go so you can easily stroll over to the Memorial Anchor and meet your guide on time.

Please note: You are more than welcome to bring your coffee or pastry to the meeting point and enjoy it during the first part of our walk. 

In Copenhagen, you cannot buy tickets onboard the Metro or city buses with cash or cards. You must have a valid ticket before you board.

The easiest and cheapest way to buy public transport tickets on the go is by using the official Danish transit app called Rejsebillet. Here is how to set it up in less than 5 minutes:

Step 1: Download the App

Search for "Rejsebillet" in the App Store or Google Play Store.

Step 2: Create Your Profile

Open the app (it automatically adapts to your phone’s language, setting it to English).

Enter your mobile phone number.

Enter the verification code received via SMS.

Fill in your date of birth to complete the registration.

Step 3: Add a Payment Card

Tap the "More" menu icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Select "Payment Cards".

Click to add your credit/debit card details (Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted).

Step 4: How to Buy Your Ticket

For a single trip: Stay on the main home screen. Enter your destination (e.g., "Kongens Nytorv" or "København H") in the search field, and the app will automatically calculate the correct route and zones from your current location.

For multi-day passes or longer travel: Tap "Special tickets" at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can find options like 12-hour tickets or multi-day passes to cover your entire stay.

Confirm your purchase and swipe to buy.

⚠️ Crucial Rule: Always buy your ticket before stepping onto the train, metro, or bus platform. If a ticket inspector asks to see your ticket, simply open the app and show them the active ticket screen with the QR code.
