From the very beginning, Matihesse was welcoming, friendly, professional, and genuinely passionate about sharing the beauty, history, and culture of Malmö. His knowledge of the city was impressive, and he had a wonderful way of explaining everything through interesting stories, historical facts, and local insights that made the experience both educational and entertaining. What really stood out was his ability to make the tour feel personal rather than simply following a standard sightseeing itinerary. He was engaging, approachable, and attentive, making sure everyone felt comfortable, included, and able to enjoy the experience at their own pace. Having trialled a brilliant (despite freezing weather) walking tour in January this year, with the amazing Brittmay, I felt confident to book a bigger tour again with Go Like a Local for our company team offsite which we were holding in Copenhagen. I knew that Maybritt would not only be able to curate something special, but also help bring Copenhagen’s rich culture, philosophy and concept of Hygge to life just as she did in January. Everyone who attended agreed that the passion and storytelling, woven in with the concept of Hygge by Maybritt and her brilliant colleagues was not just inspiring but genuinely magical. Every question answered and lots of thought provoking questions to us too. Making it truly interactive. GO like a local also helped create a bespoke route for us in a timeframe that worked for the team. From an efficiency and communications point of view, Michael who runs the organisational part was also brilliant throughout, making the discussion and booking phase - right through to the delivery of the tour itself - super easy and efficient to navigate. I cannot recommend enough. If I was to ever go back with a friend who hadn’t visited, and they wanted to do a walking tour I would instantly recommend Maybritt at go like a local every time. A wonderful trip to. Malmo with Martin!
If you are looking for the perfect way to experience Sweden from Denmark, look no further than a tour with Martin. From the moment we met him at Copenhagen Central Station, we knew we were in for a fantastic day. Navigating the train ride across the iconic Øresund Bridge was seamless and stress-free with Martin leading the way. What could have been just a standard transit link became one of the highlights of the trip, thanks to his incredible personality. He is exceptionally warm, welcoming, and genuinely funny, keeping our entire group laughing and engaged with his great sense of humor and sharp local insights. Once we arrived in Malmö, Martin brought the city to life. He guided us expertly through the charming, colorful streets of Gamla Väster, shared fascinating history, and capped it all off by introducing us to the wonderful Swedish tradition of fika. Martin didn't just show us the sights; he made us feel like we were exploring a new country with an old friend. His energy is infectious, and his passion for storytelling is unmatched. I cannot recommend him highly enough—if you get the chance to book a tour with Martin, do it!
I had a wonderful experience in Copenhagen, Denmark. I highly recommend the walking and canal tour. I had gotten to the meeting point late and I returned to my hotel, only for me to see messages from my tour guide (Maybii) . She told me to meet them at the National Library which was the next stop. I'm so glad I went there. Maybii was such a lovely guide . Our group was small and diverse. She gave us proper history without making it boring. She made sure she had repeated what I had missed previously. I wanted to see the mermaid statue . I’ve attached a photo of this 😊 so glad that was part of the tour. I highly recommend this tour and make sure you’re not late. 😊
The Walk and Canal Tour with Changing of the Guard was very well organised and extremely interesting, particularly the historical aspects of what we were seeing. Travelling on the local transport on the river was something I would not normally have done on my own and was appreciated. The suggestions of where to stand for the best photo opportunities and views of the buildings and the changing of the guard were absolutely perfect and guaranteed us the ideal locations. The pace was good and not hurried, with plenty of chances to stop and actually take the time to look and take photos. Even after the tour was finished the guide suggested a boat ride which departed close by the finishing point and was the perfect end to a very unique and fascinating experience.
Alex was an excellent guide. He is clearly fluent in multiple languages and his ability to switch back-and-forth was impressive. We got a very good overview of the history of the sibling relationships among the Nordic countries, and in particular Sweden and Denmark. We especially enjoyed the ability to go off on our own at the end of the tour and take the train back on our own timing. We randomly did the tour on the day of a Malmo -Goteborg soccer derby and the main square was very alive with lots of good energy and a police presence to keep anything from getting out of hand. The Hika coffee break towards the end was well done.

Dès l'instant où nous l'avons rencontré à la gare centrale de Copenhague, nous savions que nous allions passer une journée fantastique. Le trajet en train à travers l'emblématique pont de l'Øresund a été fluide et sans stress avec Martin en tête. Ce qui aurait pu n'être qu'une simple liaison de transit est devenu l'un des moments forts du voyage, grâce à son incroyable personnalité. Il est exceptionnellement chaleureux, accueillant et vraiment drôle, faisant rire tout notre groupe et le gardant captivé grâce à son grand sens de l'humour et à ses connaissances locales pointues. Une fois arrivés à Malmö, Martin a donné vie à la ville. Il nous a guidés avec expertise à travers les rues charmantes et colorées de Gamla Väster, a partagé une histoire fascinante et a couronné le tout en nous faisant découvrir la merveilleuse tradition suédoise du fika. Martin ne s'est pas contenté de nous montrer les sites ; il nous a donné l'impression d'explorer un nouveau pays avec un vieil ami. Son énergie est contagieuse et sa passion pour la narration est inégalée. Je ne saurais trop le recommander — si vous avez l'occasion de réserver une visite avec Martin, faites-le !
Our tour guide and the overall tour itself was remarkably warm, funny, and an very enriching experience. Seeing varying points of interest, while gaining the historical background of Denmark was one of a kind! Learning traditions of the past, seeing how history and modernism now intersect was a treat. I highly recommend this tour, as it was a life changing experience!
The best 2 hours to understand Copenhagen
We booked a 2-hour tour with my daughter with Go Like A Local, which was recommended to us by a staff at the Copenhagen Tourism Office. While I had requested a group tour (maximum 12 participants), it was our lucky day that we it was just the 2 of us.
But what made us extra lucky was to have Bob as our guide. The city at this time of the year is a jewel but Bob made it sparkle. He took us through the historical part of town, taking us through both the grand castle and gardens but also (our favourite part) through the smaller and charming cobbled streets, alleys and squares.
He gave us an insightful overview of Denmark and Copenhagen : famous people, politics, pop culture, language, history, gastronomy, royal gossips, Nobel prize, architecture …. In 2 hours we learned so much, all the while laughing as Bob is such a fun and outgoing person

Martin, our 'Go Like a Local' guide, treated us to a wonderful walking tour of Copenhagen. He shared lots history and demonstrated great pride for his city. Martin was attentive to the needs of each participant and took great care to assure that we all enjoyed the tour. Keeping the group to a small number (10 of us) worked really well. This was definitely a 5-star experience. Martin is terrific!
Had a tour with Maybritt who walked us through Copenhagen talking about the history of the city and also gave recommendations on which attractions to go to after her tour. She also narrated her personal stories and experiences during the tour, making the tour less monotonous and more interesting to follow. Very friendly, definitely recommend, great value for money!
I loved the tour. I like that it did not go all day and it was short and to the point. Michael and martin were great. They had a lot of knowledge about the history of Copenhagen and Malmo. I liked that the group was small and in general, they keep the group small and intimate. The train ride was easy and the walk in Malmo was easy and not strenuous at all. I would highly recommend this tour.
